About Monument Pilates
Awesome Certified Teachers · Amazing Equipment · Approachable Classes
From Hospitality to Movement
Monument Pilates is a family-owned studio founded by a wife and husband team who spent decades working in bars and restaurants. (If you ever want to talk about great places to eat and drink, chat us up!)
When dreaming up Monument, we intentionally skipped both the loud and dark or bougie and snooty experience to create a warm, lived-in space where you feel immediately welcomed and like a regular.
Joseph Pilates said, "Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness." We pay homage to that history while recognizing that some great adaptations have occurred along the way. That duality — the old and the new, the original and the evolved — is what our program is built around.
What Sets Us Apart
Awesome Certified Instructors
We only hire fully certified teachers from recognized programs. That means training on Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, and Wunda Chair — over 500 hours to graduate. These are teachers, not just fitness instructors.
Amazing Equipment
All equipment is made in the USA by Balanced Body — Wunda Chairs, Centerline Reformers, and Cadillac/Towers. Leather straps, handles, and carriages that make you work. This pays homage to the original while adapting for different bodies.
Approachable Classes
From beginner-friendly Fundamentals to spirited Mixed Level sessions. Every class offers corrections, modifications, and challenges — you'll never feel lost or overwhelmed.
Classical vs. Contemporary
We honour both traditions and let you experience the profound benefits of each.
Classical Pilates
A comprehensive immersion into Joseph Pilates' original work. The Mat and Reformer flow in their classical order, supplemented by Tower and Wunda Chair exercises. Precision, control, and flow — engaging deep core muscles while lengthening and strengthening the entire body.
Modifications accommodate all levels, ensuring everyone experiences this time-tested discipline.
Contemporary Pilates
Deeply informed by Joseph Pilates' principles but embracing a more flexible approach. Familiar classical movements alongside thoughtfully integrated variations using all apparatus — Reformer, Mat, Tower, and Wunda Chair.
Dynamic and adaptable, addressing a wide range of individual needs and fitness goals while promoting core strength, posture, flexibility, and body awareness.
